Submit Butterfly Records Online - Garden Butterfly Recording Form
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APPLE MAC USERS
One of our online recorders has reported an issue. If you are submitting records using an Apple MAC, please check the submit form has cleared your previous entries or you have refreshed the page.
The website code that runs the online recording pages has recently been updated. If any member/visitor/recorder has any issues with the system please could they let Ben Kirby know ASAP.
We have separate online recording forms for the 2017 season. Please only use this form to submit sightings for Kent locations (out in the field - e.g. Darland Bank, Lydden Downs).
Please DO NOT use this form to record out in field sightings for Kent (e.g. Darland Bank, Lydden Downs). To submit records for out in the field/Kent please click on the button below:
We have two online recording forms this year. One for recording Butterflies in Kent locations (in the field) and one for recording Butterflies in gardens.
The Kent recording form will allow members to search through the records submitted by this recording form and the grid reference or post code will be displayed.
The Garden recording form will allow members to search through the records submitted by the Garden recording form, however the grid reference or post code submitted will not be displayed.
Please use the form below to send us your Kent (garden) butterfly records for the 2017 season.
We currently do not have an online recording form for moths. If you wish to send us your moth records please see the Kent Moth Group website.
Please read the information below before submitting your records.
If you have already seen the information before, please click here to jump to the recording form.
Online Recorders with a ID already
If you requested a Online Recorder ID in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 you can continue to use it this season and DO NOT need to request a new one before submitting your records.
Please could we ask that if your contact email address has changed, since you requested a Online Recorder ID, to kindly let us know by clicking here.
If you have misplaced your ID please contact Ben Kirby.
First time Online Recorders
If this is the first time you are submitting your records online, you need to request a unique Online Recorder ID. Members/recorders will only need to request one of these once, and it must be entered each time sightings are submitted.
If you do not currently have a Recorder ID please click on the button below.
You will receive an email from the webmaster with your Recorder ID. Please allow 48 hours for this email to arrive. If you have not received a reply within that time, please contact Ben Kirby.
Please could we ask that you DO NOT make up your own one or put in e.g Do Not Know, as if there is an issue with your records and we can not contact you, the records will be invalid and not entered into the Kent & national database.
Your Recorder ID is only valid for use on our online recording pages/system. If you are sending in your records by email or paper to our branch recorder please include your full details and NOT your online recorders ID. Thank you.
Kent Branch Member
In 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 we saw non members submitting their records to us. We welcome anyone to send in their records. Please could we ask that you could let us know if you are a branch member by selecting Yes or No from the Member of Butterfly Conservation Kent Branch section.
All grid references, submitted using our online recording system, must be in either a four, six or eight figure format.
Please could we ask members/recorders to make sure their grid reference is correct, before submitting any records.
Please could we ask members/recorders not to make up any grid references, use the example ones or enter Do Not Know etc.
Please also do not leave any spaces in your grid references.
Grid references should be in the format TQ or TR (e.g. TQ12345678 or TR12345678)
If you do not know the grid reference you can supply a Kent postcode. Please enter the postcode into the Grid Reference box.
Please could we ask members/recorders to only put numbers into the boxes, and not any text, + or > symbols. If you have some more information you would like to add, about a certain record, please email the full details to Ben Kirby. The information will be added into the database by the webmaster.
If you enter a record online incorrectly, please could you email Ben Kirby with the following information, as soon as possible:
- The Recorders Name
- The Site Name
- The Grid Reference
- The Date of the record/sighting(s)
- The Species Record(s)
- What is incorrect about the records and needs correcting (e.g wrong species or remove record etc)
If you have any records for 2016 please send them to Mike Easterbrook, as records for only the 2017 season can now be entered online. You can still search through all the old records.
Your help in sending us this information is very much appreciated.
