A very scarce migrant to Kent, this species has only been recorded at Dungeness and Thanet since 2000. Records in Kent are from August to early September and then again from October into November.
Silver-striped Hawk-moth is easily separated from Striped Hawk-moth by the presence of the straight-edged creamy (silver?) line which runs across the forewing in a gentle curve to the apex of the wing, as well as the presence of a pale-edged black spot in the middle of the forewing.
Grade 1 — adults are generally distinctive and unlikely to be confused with other species, but records outside documented range or flight period may require photos.
